Newton Bhabha PhD Placement Award

 

Miss Mousumi Shyam senior research scholar of Dr. Venkatesan Jayaprakash in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technology felicitated with Newton Bhabha PhD Placement Award 2019-2020 (File number:BT/IN/NBPP/MS/20/2019-20) jointly funded by British Council and Department of Biotechnology. She got an opportunity of 4-months research internship at Birkbeck, University of London under the supervision of Prof. Sanjib Bhakta.

During her stay at Department of Biological Sciences andRosalind Franklin and Wolfson Laboratories, Birkbeck, the major aim of this program was to find out a new possibility to tackle global emergence of Antibiotic Resistance. Research endeavours were oriented around learning different molecular microbiology skills. Furthermore, those techniques are heavily involved to achieve the goal of the interdisciplinary research program and became an integral part of fellow’s doctoral research studies.

From this research endeavours manuscript “The Mycobactin Biosynthesis Pathway: A Prospective Therapeutic Target In The Battle Against Tuberculosis” already get published in highly reputed journal ACS Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, Impact Factor 6.205 and another manuscript is under process.
